“The spaces between us”
Consider the following vid and it’s message about communication!
Through literature we can begin to appreciate the many worlds and peoples that we share this planet with. Writers and filmmakers bring to their stories a perspective (auteur) unique to them. Our interest lies in exploring the ways in which they use texts to position us to take a particular view of the world we have been presented with. Through this exploration we can begin to develop a thesis of our own; based on the texts we have read and/or viewed. Much of the literature we will study this year is concerned with revealing the things that divide us; that create distances between us.
When considering a texts for your literature research (Connections AS 3.7), try to find a focus which is personally engaging for you. Choose connected texts which will excite your interest and encourage you to delve deeper – think about what you have read or viewed and bring your own understandings and point of view to your study. Don’t be afraid to stretch your higher thinking abilities. Take what you know already and use it to develop a framework for discovering new knowledge which you can then share with others. In this way you become a contributor to the whole body of knowledge available in the world. The slanzawiki website is a great starting point when you are thinking about what to research and texts which have connecting aspects. (consider theme/ideas and crafting)
